In April 2007, Ralph Izzo was elected chairman and chief executive officer of Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated (PSEG). Six months earlier, he was also named as the company's president and chief operating officer, and a member of the board of directors of
PSEG. Previous to that, Mr. Izzo was chief operating officer of Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G). Mr. Izzo is a well-known leader within the utility industry and also in the public policy arena. He served as an American Physical Society Congressional Science Fellow in the office of U.S. Senator Bill Bradley. He also served four years as a senior policy advisor in the office of New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean, specializing in energy, science and technology. His career began as a research scientist at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, performing numerical simulations of fusion energy experiments. He has published or presented over 35 papers, and been the recipient of national fellowships and awards. He is a member of the RBS Board of Advisers.
